I would strongly suggest you try out the combinations you are interested in as only you can decide on what's best for you.
Many here happy to chip in with views but only you can decide what you like.
Bear in mind wheelsize aswell as that could have a bearing on comparisons , you want to be comparing apples with apples so to speak.
Having said that I have vdc (or escape what ever bmw are calling it this week) on 20 inch wheels and run flat tyres and am happy with that. Not saying it is like floating on air as it isn't but comfortable pretty much all of the time and the sport setting does firm things up to the point when even in a motorway you can feel smaller underlations. It's noticeable.
