Almost everything needs to be maintained to work. Are you suggesting that our current coal and fossil fuel infrastructure doesn't?

Government subsidies are no stranger to the fossil fuel industry. The EV infrastructure will likely operate in a similar manner, with subsidies boosting a burgeoning technology until it becomes unheard of to even think it wasn't going to be profitable. Energy is energy, there will be profit because there will be demand, regardless how and why that demand came to be.
