This is a great post. Do NOT buy gloss black tips - there's no benefit. I've now done with with my last 750 and now with my current 540 - it's just too easy to do to spend the money on tips that are gloss black from BMW. and no, they do NOT peel off - just make sure you use hi temp grill (think BBQ) paint. I primed mine first with etching primer after using sandpaper on them. They've never peeled off.
