Let’s get back to oil. There’s plenty of debate and differing views on that topic.
A good idea Joe, so I will get back to oil--but with a historical perspective. I would like to underscore how much oil change advice has changed over the years with advances in engine builds and lubricants. A number of years ago, I owned a 1954 Aston Martin DB 2/4 coupe for a couple years. A fun interesting old British car. The owner's manual was about 3/4" thick and leather bound. It instructed the owner or his chauffeur to change the oil and filter every three months or 1,000 miles, whichever came first. And that was quite an oil change, as the sump held 8 quarts (which I discovered the hard way on my first oil change using a 6 quart pan underneath). By the time I owned the car it was burning a little bit of oil so I was using 50 weight rather than attempt a rebuild. It ran fine. Anyway, while I love old cars, things are better now. --Bob
