I totally agree with @roxxor
I've started coding with BimmerCode in easy mode, then moved onto expert mode of the app by innocent trial and errors. Now I've moved to Esys and coding pretty much everything
All in a few months
BimmerCode is a good place to start. I also use OBDLink MX+ adapter. But after last update I have 1 ECU can't be coded in the app (Audio Module?) on my G30. Maybe adapter related but I didn't checked it yet.
