I have not and don't intend to drive in Eco mode. But that is me. There can be many reasons why a person buys/leases a BMW and we should not impose our views on others.

For example, I bought a 530e for environmental reasons. I don't care about mpg except to the extent that it is a proxy for pollution. I do a lot of local driving in pure electric mode (I can and do charge during the day as well as at night). But when I am out on roads that permit it, I like to exercise the car. That is MY compromise.

People who sometimes drive in Eco mode are probably making other compromises.
