An engine with the same peak power figures as an older single turbo engine, could easily be more powerful, faster, and have a broader torque curve with a sequential turbo setup. Peak horsepower is a very one dimensional measure of engine power. The difference a dual turbo setup could give might not be immediately obvious in the peak power figures.
