To me fully autonomous is still a long way from now. I don't think it's the technology. Maybe inherently it's not possible since software can't really 100% emulate the way our brains think when we drive.

In general this may be true, but my 11 yr old would beg to differ as well a few of his friends. He wants nothing more than to drive a manual shit box for his first car (bc I won't let him get a RWD Nissan anything that he wants).
