I've never liked the chrome door handle trim pieces on my M550. I think they fit in quite nicely on other 5 series models with other chrome pieces here and there, grill, wheels, etc. Then it bothered me even more when I saw that the 2019's went back to color matched with no chrome trim.

I have a painter that is top notch and he painted them for me last week. They turned out perfect and now IMO they look like they should! Be aware of a couple of items if you have them done. First off, you need to find a top painter to do the job. The door handles are easily removed via a plug cover on the side of the door frame, no need to ever remove the door panels. In addition, the electrical connection has to be unplugged before removing the handle.

My painter found that the chrome trim pieces were attached via two male posts on the back and the ends of them were melted to the backside of the handle to keep them attached. Rather than worry about reattaching them or buying new trim pieces, he said he could tape them off and prep and paint them while intact. So, he just taped them off, prepped the plastic chrome trim and painted and cleared them. The rest of the door handle was not painted when he did the trim pieces. I am more than happy how they turned out. Cost: $75.00 total.
