It still won't effect sales of the M3 either as the new one should have well over 400 horsepower. They can probably even charge $6K more if the power is there, compared to the "is" only be $4K extra. of course M brakes, tuned suspension and some other things will be needed as well, have a true gap filling car! maybe get to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds...

Also when the E92 came out (2005 or 2006 model year) I don't think the 335 was available yet, wasn't it the 330i with the 260 horsepower I6 engine (no turbo). and a couple years into production they came out with the 335i? so its very possible that either with the introduction of the 4 series or maybe 2 years from now they could have a new engine with the 340i label, maybe 320 HP will be standard (even more reason a M335 needs 350 HP...)
Completely agreed. The engine bump usually comes with the arrival of the coupe, just like how the E90 generation (which was a 2006 model year) got the 335i engine in 2007 when the E92 came. So it's possible to see a 320hp 335i and a 340-350hp M335i.

I personally think that DCT, power kit, and performance exhaust are enough to push me up to a M335i when I return my lease in 3 years.
