I think it's quite interesting that the complaint is that a $56-58K BMW M2 COMP was ok.. but an 80K BMW M2 loaded with all options and aftermarket doodads including an 8K Dinan power package is not.. when the competing model he is referencing began at 85K in it's last iteration and the new model is rumored to be around 100K

Even if the 718 Cayman comes with a 4.0L motor and is priced at 92K... once he sees the options list for IT.. he will be complaining that it's not a good value *either* because it will be well into 911 territory with all the options he wants to put on IT. A 911 Carrera is $91,000 , the 911 T is $102,000 and a 911 Carrerra S is $105,000 ... heck a 911 Carrera GTS would be just $120K... etc etc..

In other words... I am having fun continuing the OP's obvious paralysis by analysis.
I see your point. 🙂 Money inst the issue though. It's "value" I would be looking for semi stripper GT4. Only option needed is carbon seats in my book. Everything else I like seems to be on the car already. I liked the m2 for fun and value and at msrp $ point allowed me to entertain making offers on GT3's. At 85k, it's modded m2 vs slightly used GT4(95-105k). Or brand new with the 4.0 at ?msrp.
I COMPLETELY agree that I need to drive a 3.8L GT4 to make my own decision. Problem is... Either way, it's a tuff decision.

I've driven A friend's Carerra GTS... Feels big and a bit heavy(nitpicking)
