It is rumored to be potentially purchased and provisioned through ConnectedDrive store. So far, it has not shown up as a North American option.

You also have to switch between iDrive and CarPlay you cannot use them both seamlessly.
I'll buy it again when my G30 arrives and cancel it again if it hasn't changed.

It is a poorly, not so integrated system that is more of an afterthought. Late February software update has made some improvements in CarPlay. But, it is still not quite ready for primetime.
