Late to the game since I just picked up a 2017 540i M w/ HK after trading in the F10, which also had HK.

The F10 hurt my ears with the HK - it was terrible and I went Bavsound, which was great. I'd suggest that to anyone who wants to change,

But in the G30, the HK was initially better - some ear fatigue at upper volumes - everything got fat/muddled.

Then I ran across a post as to the Equalizer. A member hooked an acoustic analyzer to the system and he gave his equalizer system a big tweak. I know nothing so I went with his settings - it made HK sound sooooo much better in G30. I am still undecided on the subs in the HK, but Bavsound has them if wanted.

Here were EQ settings. Won't be to everyone's tastes since music is subjective. But better than stock.
