BMW reliability compares favorably on most classes of cars when up against its competitors (MB, Audi, Jaguar, Alfa, Cadillac and Lincoln). See the various reliability ratings of Consumer Reports.
But if reliability is the principal concern, buy a stripped Toyota that is at least three years into its current model design.

Scotty considers the entire segment full garbage* outside of Lexus. His standard response is to always lease and not surprisingly that's what a majority on this board do.
*Require expensive parts and a lot of them post 100k miles.
