I can confirm that I saw the Remote Software Upgrade menu option in the 2002 3 series this morning while at the dealer waiting to state inspections the be completed on my vehicle.

2019+ G20 3 series has remote software upgrading in iDrive7.
G30 2020 doesn't have the full suite of updated modules that the new 3 series, X5, etc has. Those should come with LCI.
Looks like BMW threw in iDrive7 (lite) to the 2020 G30 as a marketing ploy. Maybe to combat people who likes Audi's revised MMI.
