G30 2020 doesn't have the full suite of updated modules that the new 3 series, X5, etc has. Those should come with LCI.
Looks like BMW threw in iDrive7 (lite) to the 2020 G30 as a marketing ploy. Maybe to combat people who likes Audi's revised MMI.

Yeah, a typo there.
It is odd as it is in the MY2020 G30 manual as being included (as shared earlier), but it isn't included when you access iDrive 7 in the car. It is possible that this will be added via a dealer installed update ahead of the LCI. As the manual pages were added for a reason.
The manual doesn't discuss other features not on the G30 with iDrive 7, such as reverse assistance. |
I hear ya. I'm going with a simple communication breakdown between departments at BMWAG. Time will tell. For your sake I hope I've got it wrong. That said, so far Remote Software upgrade has been ho hum. Check the G05 and G20 forums.
