Engine Shutting Off

Hey guys,

New e90 M3 (DCT) owner here, since March. Been loving the car but had an issue pop up recently.

So twice in the last couple months my car has turned off on its own. Luckily both times I was in stop and go street traffic and was able to turn it back on. The first time it happened I thought I may have clipped the Start/Stop button but just now I definitely didn't as my hands were nowhere near the button.

1) I'll be sitting with my foot on the brake in traffic, switch over to tap the throttle
2) Engine turns off and goes to Neutral
3)
4) Press the Start/Stop button again and it starts back up
5) Wave apologetically at the people behind me

When this happens there is no error message of any kind.

After doing some searching I see it might be the crankshaft sensor. Does that seem like the most likely culprit?

Any help/advice/words of wisdom would be very appreciated. As well as a good M3 mechanic in SoCal, although I can probably find that in the SoCal forums.

Thanks!
