Unless you know a transmission specialist who can re-build, then I suspect replacement is your only option, since BMW don't supply any spare parts for the internals of thier diffs, only complete units.
Sadly BMW diff failures are becoming less rare due to changes to the internals - including the use of plastics (!) and smaller internal capacity (i.e. less lubricant).
