g30 540i
I'm considering purchasing a G30 540i with around 60,000 miles for just under 25k. Are there any potential issues or concerns I should be aware of given the higher mileage?

70k is approaching for my 2017 and I have done the following aside from normal oil changes and brake fluid flushes:
Replaced leaking secondary coolant reservoir $600 Tires Front brakes (pads rotors sensor) $1200 VANOS solenoid $50 PCV cover $1700 (later reimbursed by extended warranty) Spark plugs $400 Grill shutters (3 times) warranty Also note, a single “halo” headlight ring has dimmed to yellow and I expect more to follow. Hope this helps - just review service records if available.

I bought my 2018 540ix two years ago. The car already had 87k kms (58k miles). So far the car has 126k kms (84k miles) and all I had to do is to change engine oil (+filter), gearbox oil, cabin filter, brake fluid and engine coolant. All of these are consumables, the car runs reliably and I did have a single problem with it.

What year is the car?
Miliage isn’t always everything. I have a buddy who has a 2018 with 50k miles and pretty much all the bushings on the car are bad I would personally take the car to either bmw for a pre purchase inspection or a reliable mechanic. Pay a small bill to check over the car. If the car is good your getting a heck of a deal!

Damn I cant believe you got an answer here lmao. I asked in like 5 different places about these cars and got not 1 reply. From the research I did the 2019s I think they changed some parts inside the engine to make them more reliable. I just singed for mine yesterday and took it home, paid $41k in NJ for a 2021 540i Xdrive with 24k miles and got an extended warranty thrown in (7 years 100k miles bumper to bumper). I love this car so far, nicest whip I've ever owned!! First BMW.

Well, taking a car to a mechanic before a purchase is never a bad idea. You can also run a diagnostic yourself (BimmerLink) just to see if there are any serious errors. The price seems to justify this kind of costs. Not often you know for sure who and how was using the car before the purchase... BTW, here in Europe this would not be considered a high mileage (last two cars I have sold each had more than 220k miles in them...)

Common issue across the range are coolant leaks, they don’t seem to be major but require attention.
I had a 2017 model which needed a new reservoir which was replaced under warranty The car you are looking at may well have had a replacement Just look for small leaks/ residue Search these forums about coolant leaks It’s a pretty solid car it would seem otherwise |

Nope, I did not notice any difference, the shifting is as smooth as always. I had it done by a company specializing in automatic gearboxes and used the original ZF oil.
