Just finished golf. Only 103 but felt worse. Maybe I'm not aging well.

103 is still pretty damn hot...even if it's a dry heat. I used to live in Scottsdale for 2 years and I never got "used to" the summer heat....however, the late fall, winter and early spring weather...was damn near perfect!

How did you shoot? Good course?

Yeah felt hotter than 103. I used to laugh at that but age has other plans I guess. I shot poorly on my home course which while private isn't one of the high end places. Shot 80 and felt worse than that really.

Funniest part is we were playing skins (7 guys in it) and I birdied the easiest par 5 on the course. From the tips we were playing it was probably about 480 yards. All carry to green over water but still. I am green side in 2 and my chip just looks into the hole and says "nah". I settle for a birdie which I expect to be one of at least 3.

Nope. Those chumps all failed to birdie. Day wasn't a total loss.

Well, atleast you won some money! That is always a plus. Buy a dozen Pro V1x's!

Played in my golf league last night...shot well and was able to get out of some tricky spots but however...my chipping game cost me about 8 strokes last night. I am still pretty bittered by it. Def my emotions were pretty shitty and I wasn't having fun. I can usually keep my cool but towards hole 7...I had enough of it.

Bummed, My group traveled to Pinnacle Peak Country Club today. Yesterday I had a tooth revolt and today had to have it extracted instead of playing on those wonderful greens.

I hit the driving range today and hit about 60 balls. First time swinging in about a month. Everything went fairly straight but the distance was hard to tell with the dead ass range balls. I'm starting to make more consistent sweet spot contact vs dealing lots of hitting off the toe issues Ive developed over the years. It's crazy how much distance you lose when hitting off the toe!

I plan to play this coming Friday if the weather holds up. Hoping I can corral my driver which had been previously nearly uncontrollable my last round.

Awake very early today for a 7 AM tee time. Got good news all around yesterday. Problem with the hip will NOT require surgery. Might need to go back for a cortisone shot but might even heal with therapy.

Tooth is gone but not forgotten. Ongoing to get a bridge now as I have one tooth sitting between two empty slots. But I can eat now and that's a bonus. Although I am lighter now than I have been since my 20s.

Damn hot here now but early tee times today, tomorrow and Thursday at Terravita. Life rocks.

I love a good driving range session...usually doesn't translate to the course. lol. Weird how that happens.

Goodluck Friday if you end up playing!

That is great news! Best of luck and don't over due it!

Very jealous of you for playing three days in a row. But not jealous of the heat you will be playing in.

I was supposed to play on Sunday with a group of friends (8 of us) but ended up saying no and spending it by the pool all day with my wife and daughter. Happy I made that decision because every single person said it was miserable out there in the humidity. It was about 92 and sunny on Sunday with the head index over 100.

I have my golf league tomorrow night and then I have a 1hr session with my golf pro on Saturday at 10am to work through some things. I want to get my shit dialed in before playing two rounds in Florida at the resort we are staying at next month. We are about 30 days out from going! Wooooooooo

Tee time is set and the weather is already looking more favorable.

I switched to the Callaway superfast balls the last couple rounds. I find they go farther off the tee vs the Bridgestone rx and PXG's I was using. Plus they don't spin back as much on the greens which helps my game. I tend to hit my irons really high with tons of backspin.

I think the wildcard club for me on Friday is going to be the putter. Last couple of rounds I didn't make any putts more than 10 feet. I feel like I could drop some bombs this week. Im playing the course where I had my last eagle in 2018. It was an amazing 3 shots: driver down the middle 285 yards, 3 wood from 245 yards that rolled to within 12 feet and then rolled her in. Such a great feeling!

Having a warm spell here. Hit 118 in the late afternoon but I was done golfing at 11AM when it was only 109.

Doing it all over again today.

Beginning to question my sanity.

That is good to hear about the weather. It poured last night around 4pm for a good 20mins then the sun was out. Cooled things down then got super muggy and all the bugs were out.

I will look into those balls. I think I play with the same ones. Will need to look at the box. Atleast you figured that out with the balls and having good success with them.

Hope you crush it tomorrow and set the course record! lol. No, but seriously though..hope you have a killer round!

I don't question it at all because I would do the same thing to be honest! How did you play yesterday?

Had my golf league last night. First hole was the best hole I played out of the 9. Driver was pure. I was about 200 yards from the pin and I used my 4H and got it on the green beautifully but the ball did roll towards the back of the green as the grass was still soaked from the rain. Then I three putted...go figure! My second putt..I was robbed. Lined up perfectly and rolled then just lipped out.

My driver was crap after that. My wedges...holy shit..they are messing up my score big time. I need to figure something out with it. Not sure what I am doing wrong. It was pretty bad last night. Only thing that saved me was my 4H and 7H.

Luckily, I am seeing my golf pro on Saturday for an hour..hopefully I can get a mental reset on things.

I am seriously thinking about buying a 3H and 5H to round out my bag.

I used the 4H off the tee on the last hole and it was a beautiful straight shot onto the fairway...I should have just stuck with that damn thing all night. The stubborn me wanted to figure out the driver. Maybe next week I will use the 4H as my driver and leave my actual driver in the car.

I am tempted to buy a TaylorMade Qi35 Rescue 3H that a guy has for sale locally to me. It's not the Max version of what my 4H and 7H are but I think it would be a good buy and get a 5H later on this month. Any thoughts on that from you all?

There are two main types of callaways that are similar: Superfast and Supersoft. When shopping most of the selection is the Supersoft ones.

Im more old school when it comes to irons and mentally I expect all my irons to have the old blade look. I do have 3 and 4 iron hybrids but don't feel as in control with them. It's a mental thing I need to get over. When my driver is off I will lean on my 3 iron off the tee and that helps my progression with being more comfortable with the hybrids.

Im not ready to venture into hybrids lower than a 4 iron right now. But hey, if it's helped unlock something in your game lean into it. My OCD kicks in though when you mention different models/varieties. I need all the same type with my clubs!

Good to know. I play with the Supersoft ones.

That is how I felt until I started using my 4H more and I try not to use my irons if the hybrid can do the trick. I have never hit my irons the way I hit my hybrids...ever. It's just so effortless and the the ball goes straight and in play. With my irons...not so much.

I have a TaylorMade Qi10 Max driver and Qi35 Rescue Max hybrids. So, for the hybrids, they make a Rescue, Rescue Max and Rescue Max Lite. It all comes down to forgiveness of the head. All of them look the same..just built different. I am good to go with the 3H Rescue and I verified that over text with my golf instructor. He thinks its a great idea. I might even go down to the 2H and use that as my second driver. With the Rescue model, you are able to adjust the loft 3*. So if I end up getting the 2H, I can increase the loft to a 3H or one tick higher than a 3H.

Right now, I want to get more consistent hitting the fairways. When I don't, that is when things go to shit. I know a few weeks ago when my driver was working well, my overall score came down a lot.

I might lean into the hybrids more and more as I feel very comfortable with them but I do plan on working out the kinks with my driver, irons and wedges on Saturday.....so we will see.

Well....I did it. Picked up my car from the BMW dealer for oil change and coolant flush and proceeded to head down the road to Dicks Sporting Goods then Golf Galaxy.

Dicks didn't have anything until I went to Golf Galaxy. They had a brand new TaylorMade Qi35 2H Rescue just hanging there.

I look at the shaft and it's an extra stiff shaft; Mitsubishi Kai'li Blue Dark Wave!

I told the guy my swing speed and he said, most def need to be in an extra stiff. I agreed as I told him my driver has an extra stiff shaft and mentioned this would be my 2nd driver if the big one is being difficult.

So............I bought it! lol. It was like a unicorn! No one had it in stock and I looked everywhere! So now I can adjust the loft sleeve to 3H if I need to which I am excited about!

Wooooooo! What an expensive afternoon! lol

Home now from 3rd day in a row. Between my hip problems and the heat all I can say is YIPPEE no golf tomorrow.

Played like a champ on Wednesday with many missed makeable putts (our greens aren't very good right now) and still dragged home a 71. Remember my home course from standard tees is only 6100 and kinda easy.

Today went to a place called Terravita CC in Scottsdale. They just punched and sanded their greens and all of us struggled to make putts. For myself the bigger issue was by the back nine my body was in revolt. I doubt I hit a drive over 220 on the back and dragged home a 79 from short tees.

I like your decision to add hybrids. I only carry one but irons are the best part of my game and I still hit a 5i sweet and 190+ but for people with any problems getting loft and distance on long irons big fan they are easier to hit.

How are you feeling this morning?

Sounds like Wednesday you could have played on Tour!

They usually do that to the greens here in April. Weird they are doing that in July. Unless that is a common thing. Not bad hitting 79 with back issues and the greens being shitty. Weather still crazy hot there when you played? I wonder how the grass is holding up unless they water alot.

Thanks. I think it's the smart move. I just need to play smarter and not be so hard headed. If the driver isn't working, try not to power through it and play the shots safe. OB's killed me on Wednesday so I need to be smarter about that which is why I picked up the 2H yesterday. If I can hit that like how I was hitting my 4H and 7H on Wednesday then I will be in good shape to put up some great numbers in the golf league.

I do want to learn how to hit my irons. I know I can't play the hybrids on every shot so if I can improve my swing / ball contact a little better...then I will be happy.

I have a lot of golf coming up in the next 1.5 months...so I want to make sure I can get things dialed in!

Felt really sore this AM. Have physical therapy and really never notice and difference. Beginning to suspect a cortisone shot or two are in the future.

And 71 sounds great but it is a really easy course and I am really accurate with irons. So most par 4s I can hit a 230 yard drive and hit the green with a 9i or so. Not tour like at all

What I've learned is being in play off the tee and having a short game are premium skills. Being long is nice so long as that being in play is there.

I have been through PT so many times with my right shoulder. It takes multiple trips and exercises at home to start feeling better. However, cortisone shot is instant relief. The shot isn't permanent but should last 6 months or more pain / discomfort free...from what I have gone through with it. Best of luck..never fun having to deal with shit like that.

I will be getting a few appointments set up after golf season ends to possibly proceed to have a 4th surgery on my right shoulder and reattach my bicep. I can't even move my arm up high enough to get a bowl from the cabinet without it hurting. Amazing enough.....my golf swing does not bother my shoulder..which is amazing! lol

That is smart. I am slowly realizing that and have been stubborn with my driver. I need to play smarter when I am out there. I know when my first shot is in play and gives me the best opportunity for a second shot, my numbers drastically go down. It's when I can't get the damn driver to work that my numbers get inflated. Hence why I bought the 2H the other day to help with that and I used my 4H off then tee on Wednesday with great success.

Well, I see my golf coach in two hours. I am excited to see what he can fix with my swing. Want to close out the last 2 months of golf league strong.

The new Titleist irons are calling me. Going to the Titleist fitting event at McCormick Ranch (Scottsdale AZ) next Saturday to see if they have full sets to demo. Considering a blended set but most fitters only have 1 iron per model. Not sure how anyone properly builds a blended set when getting fit to a single club.

Might use T150s in the shorter irons; and T250s in the longer irons, but I need to see if there’s value to this; and where exactly I cross over to the other model. I already hit everything super high, so I don’t need a lot of help achieving higher peak height, but would like to compare say, T150 and T250 4-irons. Hard to tell exactly how a 4-iron or PW is going to behave when fitters only have a 6-iron to try.
