What are your thoughts about the differences in specs between these 2 cars? First is a 2019 540 and second is a 2020 540. To me the 2019 seems to be specced better but I don't know if maybe the 2020 has extra or better features that I'm not aware of as I've primarily discussed on 2017-2019 models. Thanks for the insights!

Maybe I’m missing something but the biggest differences look to be colors and the 2019 has drive assist plus, which is significant to me but others may not care.

2020 got a different instrument panel. You can easily google image search those to see.

First car has vented/massage seats. Some like this, some don't. Also adaptive cruise which I don't think car #2 has.

IDK about the 540's, but the 2020+ M550's had massive improvements over the previous years. If you're interested into looking at that, you will find help here.

I’m 99% sure the B58 engine didn’t get the same level of overhaul as the N63 did for the 2020 model year.

But another thing I forgot is that the iDrive will also be different. I’ve had both. They’re both good. Subtle differences. I wouldn’t make a decision based on it.

I went 2018 -> 2020 -> 2019 in my journey from 540 to M550 to M5. I wouldn’t make a decision on the iDrive and instrument panel changes. They’re probably a net even. Nod to the pre-LCI instrument panel and nod to the half stepped iDrive in the 2020 G30/F90.

I’d decide on these factors:

History
Miles/condition
Colors/packages

Year would not be a factor.

As someone who owns a G30 and a F90 LCI - I concur 110%

Lastly the B58 had no major changes other than the change in intake manifold in the 540i. Others such as the M40i cars, have upgraded HPFP pump and coolant hoses (that still fail LOL) but that is not applicable to the 540i.
