Anyone know if you can pick your car up from a port?

It's ridiculous to be waiting for a truck carrier if you live nearby.

Just wondering if you can "skip" the last piece of the process and pick it up yourself. Getting annoyed it's 40 miles away just sitting there (unless there's damage I don't know about).

Just like you can prearrange European delivery or Performance Center delivery you could have prearranged port delivery. It's too late now. Let me tell you that no matter how close you may live it is an absolute kludge to pick up at the port. my brother did that and I won't even tire myself going into how kludgy, inconvenient, disorganized and uncoordinated the entire effort was. It actually increases the propensity or risk of damage to your car. Be patient. Part of the BMW experience is for lack of a better term the full service concierge element of picking up either in Germany, the Performance Center, or your BMW center. At the port your left to depend on folks not invested in you.

And if you're thinking about doing that at the Baltimore port, good luck. That port is a hot mess. I have been there many times and it's always an ordeal. But it's likely too late now to do so even if you wanted to.

I'm waiting to be picked up in NJ still so the waiting game is common it seems once they get enough for a truckload.

Not only that, but the car is still in transport mode and most likely on shipping blocks. Unless it was european delivery, then this reply is useless.
