Auto adjustment of side bolsters on comfort seats

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
My new 530i SE has just arrived and I'm working through all the options but I am puzzled over a couple of things with the comfort seats and would be very grateful for any insights.

I can store the side bolster positions on my seat memory buttons but unlike the other seat positions they don't seem to also store on the drivers key. Is that correct? It seems odd that the other seat settings are stored on the key and taken from the position when I last locked the car but the side bolsters go back to the widest setting and stay there until I press the memory button.

Also, I've read others saying that the side bolsters squeeze in when going into Sport Mode but mine don't seem to do that even though I have ticked the option on Sport Individual Mode for "seat support for dynamic driving". Is there something else that needs to be set? Also, as the option is only either on or off how does the seat know how much to squeeze in the side bolsters?

Have you started the engine? On my old e61 with comfort seats the bolsters open up when ignition is turned off and only pump back up when you start the car up again, not just when you unlock.

Thanks for the suggestion which gave me something to try. I've now partly found out the answers but added a bit of confusion!

You were correct that I'd been trying things without the engine running. I tried that and it made no difference but then I found that the side bolsters will squeeze in when you go into Sport Mode but only if your seat belt is done up - very clever!

That leaves the key memory question that I still have not definitely solved. I've found a comment in the handbook which says that side bolster position and lumber support are not saved in the seat position memory. That is odd as if I store the seat position including the side bolster in one of the memories then it definitely does remember it when I press the memory button (contradicting the handbook). However, it does not seem to remember it in the key as when I get back into the car the bolsters are at the widest position until I either set them manually or press the memory button- very odd!
