Ordered 540i Touring M Sport Edition
It has been a long time coming, but our car finally entered production yesterday. Delivery by mid October, hopefully.
We ordered a pre LCI 540i in March, but after the Covid-19 factory shutdown and everything else that followed, we had to change to an LCI model in July. As Mediterranean Blue we wanted was no longer an option we went with the Tanzanite Blue M Sport Edition model. I hadn't seen anyone else on here with one of these yet, so I thought I'd share it. We added the Technology pack, Visibility pack (laser lights) and Park Assist. We ordered it based on the configurator renderings alone, but I've found this video since then and am very happy with how it looks! Roll on October! |

Same here, 530i saloon in Tanzanite is due to production at the end of October.
I had a chance to drive and see this color in person, it is just stunning! Car ordered with full spec with sunroof, hk, hud etc.. And red calipers I think they contrast the best with Tanzanite. PS. I wanted to get Laser lights as well but they are barely visible (just some blue stripes) + they don't give any real benefit. Unless you drive in full darkness in the woods. |

Nice!
I’ve seen the Tanzanite in the flesh a couple of times, but only briefly when I’ve driven past one at a dealers - I’ve never been in a position to stop. My local dealer is showing one in stock but I haven’t seen it in the showroom/car park yet. We ordered the laser lights as we live somewhere with no streetlights and very often drive in full darkness. We’d probably have gone for night vision if it was still an option! The red calipers look great, don’t they? Can’t decide if I like the wheels on the M Sport Edition better than the regular 20” ones, but it’ll be nice to have something a bit different. |

Actually I haven't pick M Sport Edition but just M Sport. Difference is M Sport can have comfort seats. M Sport Edition forces M Sport seat selection. And I didn't want them so I had a chance to pick regular 20". by the way: I was testing 530i with EDC and 19" and comfort was ultimately great! I hope with 20" will be the same or very similar not harsh |

You’re right, although you do get the multifunction seats from the M5 in the saloon. Unfortunately we only get the ordinary M Sport seats in the touring model for some reason.
To get tanzanite blue and comfort seats would have cost us £6.5k more than the M Sport Edition, so we decided to live with the sports seats! We had them in a previous model so I think we’ll be ok with them. I hope the ride isn’t harsh too. The 540i comes with the adaptive dampers too. From what I’ve read, a lot depends on the tyres you get. I’m hoping for Michelins on ours. Last edited by Jas387; 09-22-2020 at 06:27 AM.. |

If anyone else in the UK is waiting for a car to be built, the updates I've had look like this: Order placed 5 July Scheduled for Production 28 Aug Started Production 14 Sept Paintshop Start 21 Sept Assembly Complete 24 Sept We are apparently still on course for a mid October delivery. |

The adaptive dampers come as standard on the 540I M Sport Edition - I didn’t get to choose between them and the standard M suspension. |

I’ve found another video of it and the car in the YouTube vid above still has the standard M sport seats.
Unfortunately I think I’ll get the normal ones, as that was what was showing on the configurator when I ordered mine. |

If your car is not in production yet you may want to ask your dealer to add them in your order

BMW tell me it is at the port now, which I assume to be Bremerhaven.
If the previous threads I have found on here are correct, it looks like the next boat will be leaving tomorrow. I hope she makes it onboard! |

The dealer tells us that our car is on a boat now, and there's a 10 day window for it to get from the port to the dealer. Should be delivery by the 19th October.
With only 1000 of these M Sport Edition cars being produced worldwide, I thought I was quite lucky to be able to get hold of one. That is, until I went outside this morning and saw that our neighbour has bought the exact same car! What are the chances?! |

I did wonder whether that was the case. It’s such a coincidence.
That’s great news! Not too long to wait. Mine has just rolled off the ship in the UK. They’ll allocate a registration to it tomorrow and I’ll be picking it up in the next 10 days hopefully. |

My car is away at the detailers having a ceramic coating applied at the moment, and he's just uploaded some photos to his instagram account. Thought I'd share some of them for anyone else waiting on a Tanzanite Blue car.
Hoping to have some proper photos taken when it's all done. |

It is a little dirty in places at the moment, but I managed to grab a photo in the sun this morning. Excuse the state of my driveway!
