2019 540i universal muffler

Hi I have a resonator delete on my 540 but it’s just not enough so I plan on doing the muffler delete but adding on a universal valved muffler (pic below) so when open it should sound like a straight pipe correct? And closed just quieter lmk thank you

Not sure what that thing is, but it looks very cheaply made and I don't think it'll make a big difference as there isn't much to 'muffle' the sound with. A muffler + resonator delete will most definitely make your car drone pretty badly. If you're set on going that route you could try of those Valvetronic universal mufflers which has a flap you can open/close. Shouldn't be too expensive to find, there is a lot of used ones for sale. Might need one for both sides but I'm not positive on that.

Or if you're tuned (flash or JB4) just get a catted downpipe and it'll sound more aggressive with no drone.

I agree with rsc1 that it looks very cheaply made. It looks like a simple exhaust cutout. If you want to do a cutout in front of the muffler for a straight through pipes effect fine; I have done that myself on an older '95 Corvette ZR-1. I kept the stock system for when I wanted a relatively quiet system but used the cutouts just in front of the rear mufflers (the center resonator was straight through) for when I wanted to go to the track or simply scare children or set off car alarms. Worked great. But I recommend you go with a proven system not some cheap knockoff. I used Quick Time Performance cutouts with a rocker switch hidden under the carpet on the passenger side of the center console. Worked great. May not be directly applicable to a BMW but worth a look. --Bob
