BMW G30 traction control issues

Hi all hope you are well

My new to me 530d seems to flash the traction light upon hard acceleration, mainly motorway speeds and seems to cut the power in result of that. I’ve replaced a wheel speed sensor since it had a fault code on it. Cleared the fault yet same symptoms again.

The car came with a full set of budgets, more or less new. The only difference I can visually see is the passenger front tyre having a small side profile compared with the other. Could this be the cause of it? (Same side I replaced the speed sensor)

Just a side note if I click the traction off (one press) behaves absolutely normal none of the issues are present. Makes no funny noises etc on low speeds or high speeds.

Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like you're actually losing traction. If the tires are budget, time for some better ones.

Replace your tires with DWS06 Plus and you won't regret it.

Could well be the case, I’ve never ran any budgets before on any cars previously. But when I scan the car the wheel speed sensor code is still there yet no lights on the dash. Initially I did have the traction light on permanently.

I’ve never rated continental tyres before always felt they wore fast and aqua plane in standing water. Mainly stick to Goodyear or Michelin. Might have to give these a go if they get positive reviews

The bolded/underlined text in your quote above is inexact speculation. Could you give us the actual specs of that tire (Tyre) vs the other tires (tyres) so that we can have exact/preciswe information to perform true calculations to determine if the overall circumference of that one tire is greater or lesser than the other ones which would definitely cause issues as the system is calculating a noticeable difference in that one tire vs the others.

There should be numbers on the side of the tires that reveal its size {width/aspect ratio/rim size (ie 215/70/16)}:

I'd suggest Michelin PS4S on the M550i, as they've always given me the best performance in all categories.

And no, I'd never use RFs. Not on an actual performance vehicle like this one.

Will definitely look into that when I’m back away at the min and will post my findings.
