Ever have your AC just stop working?

Happened twice in my ‘19 540iX in the first 750 miles. AC is working perfectly, then for no apparent reason, it starts blowing warm air! A minute later and it’s fine again. A little unsettling especially on a super hot day like today.

While you're driving? If stopped and A. S. S. is enabled the air will blow warm when the engine stops.

It's probably the HVAC sensor. That's a common issue on BMWs and hot weather. It happened on my X6 a few times.

Were you in eco pro mode?
Eco pro can try and save fuel by using the a/c less. In ecopro individual mode you can configure it not to do that if you wish.

Get it looked at for possible Freon leaks. This week I was in Orlando, FL with temps hovering above 100F and the AC never quit.

My car would pump hot air out of foot vent while AC was on. Fix for me is I keep hidden stratification adjustment in middle and don't touch. For some reason this fixed the problem.

Again, I guarantee you it's the HVAC sensor. I have a friend that works at BMW of Austin that says this happens all of the time in Texas heat. The sensor can misread the temperature.

This has happened to me a few times - AC working and blowing cold air one minute, then blowing hot air the next. Mine corrects itself almost immediately though so I am not too worried.

They are designed to bring in fresh outside air periodically, which causes it to blow hot. My G01 does this as well, you can turn it off in iDrive under climate settings, since I've done that, no more hot air (I live in Central TX, so this is important).

My 2017 530i (G30) has the same issue. Intermittently the AC stops working. Even MAX AC doesn't work. Did anyone find a fix for this? Did anyone replace the HVAC sensor and fixed it?

A bit off topic but I have a similar experience… the vents in the rear passengers (consistently) blow way too cold air into the car ONLY WHEN it is very cold outside. During the winter, with temps around 0F, the rear passengers were freezing and had to close the vents. Anyone experience with that?

Never took it back to get looked at as it was only for literally a few seconds then went back to ice cold again. Maybe it was something in the system cycling or something like that... That's what I put it down to.

On my 2018 m550i, the ac performed poorly from the word go. I finally asked them to check it this spring and they said it was performing within spec. I just traded that one in for a new m550i and the ac is markedly better on all accounts. However twice when it was relatively warm, I had no avc at all for 10 minute's time. Otherwise, it's blasting cold so we will watch and see if this is isolated or not.
