Active Autowerks downpipe - how critical is cool down after install?
Hello, I'm installing an AA 400cel car on my 540i. Direction say to let it cool down completely after idle/2500rpm break in (step 4). Anyone know how critical that part is?
1. Start car but do not rev engine. 2. Idle engine up to operating temps. 3. Wait 10 mins, then hold rpm at 2500 for 2 mins. 4. Turn off car and allow engine to cool completely. 5. Drive lightly for 5 miles any hard acceleration. I made the mistake of starting this on a Sunday, and it will be overnight before it cools completely. when i had it on my m340, i did not follow the "break in" procedure and never got a check engine light. i think i had it on my car for 50,000 miles without issues.

Right on!
The breeze and mild temps really helped. Only took 3-4 hrs to cool down. I can easily put my hand on the turbo and it was just warm. So, should be good to go. |
