Whilst I don’t this is coming to the g30 , I suspect it will come to new and future beeners

I suspect car manufacturers may drop developing their own sat nav systems.

It isn't yet slated to come to BMW as with this new system Apple wants deeper control of the car's system. BMW has started dipping their toes into the Android Automotive space with iDrive 9. So it is likely they may shift more that way instead of this system from Apple.

Time will tell though!

I like my iPhones, I love CarPlay but I hate the idea of CarPlay Ultra.

Having the whole cluster, car settings, HVAC controls, etc. hijacked by Apple sounds like hell considering how closed Apple's ecosystem is. Lots of Apple apps suck outside of the US. iMessage is essentially irrelevant elsewhere, so are Apple Maps and Apple Music.

Many car manufacturers have already said they're not willing to cede full control to Apple. It's a very slippery slope and I agree.

UI consistency is IMO a good thing... to a point.

I have 4 cars, 3 of them with CarPlay. I love when I jump from one car to another and the same music begins playing, the same directions show up in Waze and the same contacts, settings, icons, etc. just pop up like magic.

But I also love that each car has a unique feel to it, with unique instrument clusters, physical switches and that outside of the G30, I can easily swap head units if I grow tired of CarPlay. I fear none of those things would be true if all manufacturers decided on using CarPlay Ultra. I wouldn't like having identical clusters and identical HVAC controls in all cars and just like with iPhones, have infotainment components paired to your car and showing a warning or getting disabled (FaceID and TrueTone) if a part is replaced.
