How can I tell if my car has the latest software?

It did in April of 2021 as the dealer flashed everything to the latest before delivery which I confirmed at the time.

Does anyone know if there were any other updates to pre-lci's?

Joe-BMW33 ,

If your car has an iDrive 7, select CAR, SETTINGS, GENERAL, cursor down with controller, then select SOFTWARE UPGRADE. At the top of the screen, you'll see software version. Software version is MM/YYYY VERSION

BMW puts out software updates 3x/year: March, July & November

Hope that helps

Thanks, I have iDrive 6. It's a 2018.

The reason I asked this question is because my car is at the shop today to address the infamous "passenger restraint system malfunction". I expect them to put in a new pad and for them to initialize it. How dealer initialize hardware is to flash the entire car, even if it is the same software. When I asked this question, I was thinking maybe they would not if I had the latest software, but I have learned otherwise. I really don't want them to do this and they have notes to not update or flash software without my approval. I have so much friggnin coding, but the LCI tails are the main concern.

I gave them the option to just initialize it through other means (unlikely) or put the sensor pad in and I will initialize it, also unlikely.

I will keep you posted.
