Has anyone run Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s?

I typically run a summer winter setup on my ‘17 M2 of PSS and X-Ice. I’m debating whether to step up to the PS4S for summer or go with the PS4 All Seasons for summer instead (which were good enough to be stock on the new C8 Corvette.) While I know there would be some decrease in dry performance with an all season, I’m wondering if the increased treadwear and potentially better performance in 40-60 degree weather would be a worthwhile trade off. Here in Michigan the months of March-April and Oct-Nov end up being weird gaps where it’s too cold for great summer tire grip, and too warm for winter tires. I essentially have 4 months a year where my tire performance is pretty weak with this setup.

My M2 is my daily. I don’t track the car and the roads in Michigan aren’t particularly winding- hard cornering typically only happens on the occasional on or off ramp. That said, this is a performance car and I also don’t have much interest in a drastic change in handling feel. I do enjoy punching it at high RPM in 2nd or 3rd gear as well, and spinning the tires isn’t desirable.

Anyone put these on their car? Were you happy with their performance? I feel like I could live with a 10-15% drop off at the limits but wouldn’t want to sacrifice much more.

Well you can run them… But they're not anywhere close to what they need to be on a car like an M2

I run them on my Tesla DD however I would not consider running them on my M2

I deal with similar weather circumstances in Denver and I still run summer/winter combo.

My winters go on late October since I have the car in the mountains and the temps are too cold at that point for summers. It will wear the winters out sooner driving around on them in Denver, but it's worth it to have both the excellent performance of the summers from May-Oct, and the excellent performance of the winters when I need them most.

I don't track either and No way I'd run all seasons…as everyone says, there is a reason they are called "no seasons". You'll never be able to enjoy your M2 they way it was meant to be.

I assume mps4s are superior in 40-60 degree weather. Or like 45-60.

I run PS4S's on my Golf R since we get a little snow & sleet and a fair number of below-freezing mornings up here at altitude in southern Arizona. VERY happy with them. Nearly equivalent summer performance in the dry, while being perfect for my type of winters. Also have run DWS06's in the past and was happy with those too.

Interesting feedback

4S' are definitely great in the rain

At times I overdrive my all season 4's and find them restricting

I've never considered running Pilot 4S' year round in the northwest where I like

Do you mean you run the AS4 or the PS4S?

Great question

All wheel drive aside… 4S's don't really like cold weather

Yep I realize, I just thought it might have been a typo since you had them on a Golf R that had been previously wearing DWS06 and see a bit of snow. Enough acronyms going around to get confused.

I've decided to run a set of AS4s this winter for cold (NOT snow). I have too many trips where I never get the tires properly warm and my M2 is my daily driver.

I had AS4s on an M240i and found them better than expected.

As long as you don't drive 💯 you will absolutely love them I've have two sets

I wish there was a tire between the All Season 4 and the 4S…

Until then they're the best all season that Michelin makes

I also am in the Detroit area. I am running Pilot Super Sports in the summer and Pilot Aplin 4 for the winters, stock sizes. I don't really notice the performance decrease that your referring to. The winters (PA4) get thrown on the week before the first snowfall in late November usually and then get taken off in late March/early April when the temps are consistently in the mid-40s.

What I can recommend is that you don't go with anything less than the PA4 if you plan on driving through the winters. From the sounds of it, you're planning on keeping your X-ICEs for the winters and just changing your summers to the all-seasons. I bought a used set of PA4 (about 80% tread life for the fronts and 50% for the rear) and it was a struggle to get grip with the rears, but steering and braking were strong the in snow. The all seasons will be SIGNIFICANTLY worse in the snow, so if you're planning on running those, I would definitely think twice, IMHO of course.

Oh I’d never run all seasons on a rwd car in snow, hell no. I drive quite a bit for work in sales so safety wins in the winter. I’d love better performance for the 90% of days it’s just cold and dry, but as you mentioned, the Alpins struggle that other 10% and I don’t have the luxury of staying home just because I have a sports car in a winter state.

The PSSs really struggle to get warm in the spring and fall months, and with the C8 running all seasons and still pulling 1+g on skidpad, they seemed like a potential option. From the sound of it the trade off is still too significant to consider them.

Hahaha, just had to make sure you weren't going to be the crazy lunatic drifting through my neighbourhood at full-lock on all seasons in the snow

I run continental extreme contacts all seasons in New Jersey. Perfectly fine in my opinion as a spirited daily. Stage 2+ they grip just fine all year round.

Tracking is a different story I'd imagine

I also like the Continental DWS 06 Plus all season tires year-round here in Missouri. I chose them over the Michelin all seasons due to Tire Rack ratings.

These are the newest Michelin All Seasons

"All Season 4" tires are the most advanced all season tires Michelin has made to date
