Patchable or pluggable?

Just my luck. Less than 1000 miles on the tyre and got a puncture. The local tire store says it can't be patched but he barely looked at it before saying it. Do you guys think this is patchable/pluggable? This is for daily driving and not for track use.

Thats really close. Depends on the tire shop you go to but a nail right there is right on the line.

Patch no. Plug yes. Most shops wouldn’t try to plug that though as the last tread block is considered the “sidewall”.

After consulting 4 different stores, it looks like I will have to replace it.

If it's not leaking now you might get lucky. Bring a half water bottle with a few drops of dish soap added for bubbles, a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. AT THE TIRE SHOP put some soap water on there first and unscrew the screw and watch for bubbles. No leaky...no problems!

Just buy a plug kit and DIY. Pretty straight forward.

It's leaking even without taking the screw out.

Great little kit to throw in the trunk. Saved me once and takes up no room.

Plug it all day long. My guess would be they’re only saying it’s not repairable to avoid liability. However, it’s clearly not sidewall. I would be comfortable plugging mine if it were in that location.

Pluggable, but is not an easy task. That's why the answer no to you.

I'd replace it. Yea it's only got a 1k miles but I'd rather replace now while the others only have 1k miles than later if it has a problem.

Plug it yourself. The hardest part is pulling the tire off. Other than that it's a 2 minute job.

Thanks for the feeback. I'm getting it replaced. Pulled the screw out and it's a 2" long screw. It actually angled out towards the sidewall so I'm not sure what kind of damage internally it caused. Will take a look when it is off the wheel and see.

Quick update. When the tire was off the wheel, I can see internal damage to the side wall. So replacing it was a necessity this round

Safety standards, no you should not. However, I would and not think twice.
