Apple CarPlay calls cutting out

When I call on Apple CarPlay it works for 30 seconds to 15 minutes, always random, and then it cuts out and I can't hear them but they can still hear me. I've had this problem the entire time I've owned this car and it doesn't happen with my Mom's car. I've searched online but I can't find any solutions other than deleting the phone from the car and reconnecting it which I already tried. The only ways to fix it when it happens is to hang up and call again or go on my phone switch the call to speaker and then back to CarPlay. Please help this is getting really annoying.

If it was a recent problem I would suggest it could be an IOS 18.4 problem as there have been lots of reported connection problems, but if you have had it for a while....

What happens if you just connect through bluetooth..? Does it drop out then..?

I haven't made a call with jist bluetooth but I will give it a try and see what happens. Its happened through multiple Apple updates so I don't think its from IOS 18.4
