Hi, all. I’m the recent new owner of a 2018 M550i and I’ve got a P0025 Exhaust Camshaft Over-Retarded code. I see a lot about this code for the prior years and it would seem the VANOS solenoids are often to blame. It’s difficult to find information on my 2018, however, with the confusion being that it would seem there was a redesign of the VVT system around 2017 or 2018 or so which makes it a lot less clear what parts I need and what the replacement procedure is. For starters, are the solenoids still most likely to blame on my 2018? Are there even solenoids at all anymore? I am seeing what are instead called control valves for my 2018, part number 11368617694. The second question is, does the replacement procedure happen to be essentially the same as it was for the prior years? Any relevant info would be much appreciated. I understand the issue could be as simple as the car needs an oil change, which seems like wishful thinking but I’ll go ahead and do that just to be sure. And for the record, the car idles, runs, and drives perfectly. If it wasn’t for the CEL, I wouldn’t think anything was wrong. Thanks for any info!

Update, after digging further it turns out the BMW-specific code is 123439 which refers to the wastegate valve lower position. I haven’t researched it yet (just found out) but if anyone has ideas I’m all ears. Thanks.
