Finding Repair Procedure ISTA+ for Wastegate Actuator

Hey all,

I am just looking for a sanity check. I am using ISTA+ 4.39 and tried text search for Wastegate actuator (and many variations of keywords). The hits come from special tool bulletins, general wastegate actuator information, or from other procedures that mention "wastegate" but I can't seem to find specific instructions for replacing this component.

I'll be replacing my wastegate actuator (last 7 VIN B036919
, part no 11658680616) when it arrives in the coming days and I think it'd be helpful to have a replacement procedure to reference and want to make sure I'm not missing something in ISTA.

Thanks in advance for the discussion.

Update. Swapped out the wastegate actuator. Just needed to take off the top airbox, o2 sensors, and top heat shield to get at the 10mm nut on the actuator-to-wastegate linkage. Seems resolved. My guess is the high heat of the area fried the controller internal to the wastegate actuator motor assembly. It looks like I could just make out a bit of discoloration on the back of the part.

Thanks for the update here - did you find the procedure in ISTA, or did you find the steps elsewhere?

Replacing mine soon.

When I hooked up ISTA it picked up the code and prompted me through diagnostics (continuity and signal for the wires between the actuator and the DME) and then the replacement of the actuator.

Tips:

The heat shield screws don't need to be backed all the way out, the heat shield through holes are slots. The passenger side is pretty tight and just getting a few turns backing these screws out is enough.

Be overly careful with all of the EVAP hoses topside of the engine, the plastic is unbelievably fragile. I cracked a connection and ended up epoxy plastic welding the joint ..
