Advanced Car Eye 3.0 Pro Dascam

I have a 2023 M550i with the rear automatic sunshade. I’m looking at the BMW Advanced Car Eye 3.0 Pro. A few questions for those that have it or considered it:

1.) Does the rear camera attach to the rear window and and does the camera interfere with the shade operation? If it does interfere, was there an alternative mounting spot?

2.) How is the video quality for daytime recording?

3.) How is night time recording quality?……can you see license plate numbers?

4.) Is the rear camera recording the same quality as the front?

5.) Who manufactures the camera?

6.) If you did not get the BMW version, what did you get and why?

Thanks.

Does this cover you when parked? Aka can you hook up an aux battery for recording if there’s motion or even 24/7?

I kind of want something that allows me to emulate what Tesla has in their sentry mode I believe it’s called. I’m more worried about my car when it’s parked than I am on the road to be honest.

Backvue is a brand I’ve heard suggested a lot and seems to fit those needs but I’ve never had a dash cam.

I remember coming to the conclusion that the bmw one couldn’t do what I wanted, but I don’t remember specifically why.

The Pro version has the parking coverage and is direct wired into car for constant power. I have a Nextbase dash cam in my Explorer, but really like the compactness of this unit.

How come all of the others need a large external battery vs hardwire to the car? There has to be a downside to running it off the battery vs an external dedicated one IMO.

My Nextbase has an internal battery and direct wire. Honestly, the internal battery in dash cams only lasts for a very limited amount of time before its needs plugged in to a socket. Direct wire is best with constant power.
Not sure about a large external battery unless you mean direct wire.

Get a FITCAMX, that’s what I have it’s plug and play so easy. customer service is great. Much cheaper and the app is user friendly.

Quality is great, nothing special but does the job (2022 m550)

Does the sunshade cover the entire window?? Or are there gaps along the edges?
I did put the sunshade up today to see if there is a gap. There seems to be a gap at the top center. Tomorrow I’ll check how wide the gap is between the top edge of the sunshade and the roof.

Thanks. Can you measure the area of rear camera base that attaches to the glass as well. I appreciate you posting a pic.

OP, did you ever end up installing ACE 3 Pro in you M550i? If you did, did the rear camera fit with the sunshade all the way up?

Yes. I had it installed and the rear camera fits perfect with the sunshade all the way up.

GSMCCASH That's great news, might just pull the trigger myself now. Do you have a picture of the rear?
