FCP Euro and RealOEM both have the front and rear flex disks as part BMW-26117610061, so I ordered two of them. Well... the front-most guibo is a different size/part. It is 26111229360 (1229360 is stamped on the part). This is on my 2018 M550i. I can't find this confirmed anywhere on this site, the FB groups, or through google. Am I completely nuts?

These are the two I removed. The left is the front one, the right is the rear one connected to the diff. They're different diameters, so surely it has to be right, just a little crazy that this info isn't posted anywhere.

Also, I think the rear one is the problematic one. Seems like any time someone is talking about cracked guibo's, it's the rear one they are talking about.

Reviving this as I’m going to be replacing the rear one, and since the exhaust and plating etc will be down I figured to bang out the front one too.

There’s absolutely no info regarding a separate part number for the front one. Everywhere I read it’s as if both are the same part number. Has anyone replaced the front one since?

RealOEM omits part information for the front one. It is grayed out in its diagram and not enumerated in the list.

I’d consult the dealership parts department and share the details if no one is able to provide them beyond what OP shared.

One is "rear forward" and one is "rear rearward." Dumb naming convention, but they are definitely different.

Yea it’s super misleading and as Apex mentioned it is grayed out on RealOEM. I haven’t seen anyone else here mention the rear forward one besides the OP. I will contact local dealer parts dept tomorrow perhaps see how far that gets me.

BTW, Meyle makes theirs in their proprietary "HD" standard, supposed to be more durable. No one has reported if this is the case or not. When it comes time, I intend to use them, over the factory version.

I have had good luck with their thrust arms on my E39, their solid rubber bushings last three or four times what the fluid filled Lemforder oem ones do.

I've yet to see a report of the front guibo cracking, but many just go ahead and replace anyway while having the rear done.

I replaced the rear one in my wife's 2018 540I pretty easy job exhaust comes right down . Her front one was fine still looked new 60k . also replaced the bolts and nuts along with the giubo. I got the parts from FPC Euro { Bilstien }

I'd imagine a bad vibration, but would like to know for sure.

Vibration especially under acceleration from what I understand. I’ve had a vibration in the car for a few months, got worse after I mounted my winter setup. 2 of the rims have been bent and fixed in the past. I’m sure the wheels are not helping here even though they have been roadforced and balanced. So now I’m tackling the next possible thing and even if it turns out not to be the issue. Having them replaced would bring peace of mind, especially after reading how erratic the timeframes are on these cracking, I’ve read anything from 20k miles to 90k.

I didn't have any symptoms, but I think it was caught early on. Dealer noticed stress fractures while in for something else and they replaced it under warranty. Car had 28k miles on it. I am pretty sure techs look for this as it's common and easy warranty money for both the dealer and the tech. I am sure it's a 4 hour job in the books but takes a good tech an hour to get paid for 4.

CPO doesn't cover this, just factory BTW.

OK so to confirm for anyone needing to replace their Guibos in the future, OP is 100% correct. FCP and other sites have both Guibos listed as 1 part number for Rear - Rearward and Rear Forward on our M550s at least, which is incorrect. I had my mechanic confirm with BMW using my VIN (2018 M550i) as well.

I will yes, I figured if it's meant to be more durable why not give it a shot. The Rear-Forward is same price for the Meyle HD as Bilstein. the Rear-Rear is $35 more for Meyle HD.

Right now Meyle HD Rear-Rear is $107 and Rear-Forward Meyle HD is $63

Update

Rear-Rearfacing had a significant crack, went ahead and replaced both since exhaust, heat shields etc had to come out anyway, figured bang out both. Went with the HD versions.

Ride is smooth now, minimal to no vibrations. I felt it most during acceleration.

The part number for the front one does not show an M550 in the fitment list, according to FCP Euro. Did you run into any issues? Or did you use a different a different one? I have a 2021 M550 and would like to do both at once and get them out of the way.

No issues at all, this is the correct one based on OE numbers as well. I had a 2018 and I’m pretty sure it’s the same one for a 2021. Maybe just confirm your vin and the OE part number to be safe.

Front is 90mm, rear is 110mm. Different part #s for sure.

Just called local dealership. Walked through the part numbers and they assured me that 2021 BMW M550 front and rear are both the same guibo. Guess I will remove them and see what comes out of it.

I had the same issue, I had to get it confirmed with my mechanic, 2 sizes - not the same part.
