BMW G31 Rear Camera Retrofit - Issues BDC/Ethernet

Hi all,

First time poster, but long time reader. I'm hoping for some information relating to a rear camera install on MY19 G31. I should start by saying my car is a pre-LCI G31, but with ID7 and live cockpit professional. It's a bit of a strange specification as doesn't have the rear camera (obviously), nor folding mirrors but does have other options - cockpit, HK etc.

I purchased the official loom (with both BDC and Ethernet) fitment options and the ICAM2-R camera.

I have completed the install, connected the ground in the rear, connected the A3 RT/VI cable to the GN cable from pin 11 on Z2*3B rear fuse board. I have then run the 3 final wires (GN,WS & GE) to the front BDC with the aim of pinning them to the sockets only to find that PIN 54 of the A258*8B socket is already occupied...

Pins 37 & 38 on the A258*9B are free as described in the manual.

At this moment, I thought the car may use an ethernet switch - I had not assumed this previously as it did not have 360 surround). I checked in the other arch - no ethernet switch present.

I'm now stuck at this stage and just looking for some information about what to do next.

- Is an install possible on my car at all?
- Do I need to connect to another pin on either of the BDC sockets?
- Do I need an ethernet switch?
- Is there another installation instruction available on ISTA for my unusual car?

If I have missed any information, just let me know and I can gladly reply.

My PM's are restricted for 7 days incase anyone thinks I'm ignoring them.

Thanks in advance,
Sim.

Thanks for the reply.

I knew the document was incorrect and even with the correction to 8B, it was still occupied.

Looked at ISTA and the same document is present, but it dosen't match the SA options, there were no others listed.

I have SA503, but not SA606/609 as my car has MGU7.

Thanks, do you mean splice X1329*1V or directly into the wire coming out of pin 54

Thanks very much - will give this a go.

The coding element remains the same as if it were wired normally?

Just to update here after months of waiting. I followed the installation instructions of kubax86 for the pin process and it work.

I had the coding done by bimxcoding https://www.bimxcoding.com/ and the camera functions correctly.

Many thanks kubax86.
