Drivetrain malfunction error
Hey folks
I recently started getting drivetrain malfunction error intermittently in my 2019 M550. I took in it into the dealership and they are saying the codes suggest that I need to replace the turbo charger wastegate valve actuator. The cost to do that is coming around $1800, are you guys aware of any service bulletins that extends warranty the warranty of these parts. I know that 530e has a SIB that covers this. Otherwise can this be done at home ? |

I'm pretty certain that if there was a warranty extension the dealer would tell you. In my experience service bulletins do not imply extended warranty. They just assist the repair tech with instructions. Given what BMW charges for repairs, I would assume that $1800 means it isn't hard to do yourself. lol

I was referring to this. Because of know issues BMW extended the warranty on wastegate actuator for 15 years on 530e.

Anything further on this? Seems like the 550 has a really high rate of wastegate actuator failure, similar to the 530 that got the service note and warranty extension.
