I knew something was up as Throttle House had really pulled back on content. Thomas has a new baby but still you could sense change was coming. They are obvious replacements, absolute no brainers.

The cash cow needs new blood. Unfortunately, replacing the cow kills the cash. Top Gear learned that the hard way.

I always thought the original three should have hand-picked their replacements. It was their chemistry that made the show imo.

I always thought the original TG was off to a rocky start at first. The pit crew vs ladies getting ready for a night out gave me a chuckle but it really wasn't until they tried to destroy that toyota the show was really endeared to me.

Other than that if there's cars in it, I'll watch it. Even Motorweek, the Tylenol PM of motoring shows.

After 22 seasons of Top Gear, watching them become friends, they're irreplaceable. The era has passed. The cars, audience, opinions, have all changed.

It's time to move on, a new show is needed, expectations are so high.

What are they going to do shows on Toasters? The amount of internal combustion cars is dwindling I can't see it lasting too long.

This! Let GT die gracefully. But no, they need to create another sequel of a sequel of a prequel of a sequel... trying to milk this dead cow...

I'm actually surprised that Thomas and James agreed to that, IMO it's pretty clear this attempt to resurrect GT is doomed to fail..

I suspect it will be TH with a larger budget, if they are smart they will focus on road trips but both lads have young families.

Should make a new show. Maybe let them call it Throttle House? Makes too much sense.

I'll watch it regardless.

Not sure what this Train Spotting dude is going to bring, I find him annoying. Should have just left it with the 2 TH guys, or brought in another bigger name like Jason Cammisa if they had make it a trio.

I'm not only OK with this, I'm trilled and can't wait!

Thomas and James are fantastic and have caused my wife and I to watch Throttle House reviews of cars we don't care about, simply because we know the show will be funny and entertaining -- just like how Top Gear used to do but with no budget.

The train spotting guy is a genuine nerd and doesn't care what anyone thinks about him. And that's the key, the thing the newer Top Gear hosts didn't have (except for Harris). Rory Reid never wore the same shirt twice, constantly worried about looking cool on camera, and that lack of genuineness showed and was unappealing to watch. James May wore the same ugly shirt for decades, so much so that Gap asked that he please stop wearing it.

We're going to get presenters that are genuinely excited about what they do, don't care what others think about them, and are naturally fun to watch.

Congrats Throttle House Thomas !

I dont know who the train guy is but thomas and james are essentially the same person. Im sure theyll talk a lot about how bmw lost its way and the miata is the measure of all sports cars. There will be lots of stare-at-the-camera gags and “oopsies” sexual innuendo. The cars will be unaffordable and the locations will be breathtaking. But none will know how to tune a carburetor or fix a punctured gas tank in the mountains of bolivia, nor whether the 427 was available in all trims levels. Not a bad gig for them, but not one im rushing to watch. Imo.

Edit: i guess its better than nothing. But they cant just try to emulate the og3; they need their own unique take to succeed and the current youtube model aint it. Imo.

Another plus is that Andy Wilman will remain the executive producer. He's really the key to the old Top Gear's success as well as the Grand Tour.

Reason being, he films everything and then spends half a year editing it. Andy once said "If you film 3 men trying to drive through a jungle in old cars for a week, non-stop, never turn off the cameras, you're going find an hour worth of content, regardless of who they are."

Throttle House is great. I like them on Throttle House though. They're not Top Gear.

That said, yeah, in retrospect it makes more sense. They pulled back on content amount (I haven't seen an extra TH or an extra extra TH in a while), they did more "adventures", and the whole CA trip felt weird, that's probably when they were inking the deal.

I'm happy for them, they're my favorite YouTubers, but am sad that TH will likely go away. I probably won't watch Grand Tour anyways, so I'm not gonna be seeing them as much anymore. I wish I wasn't going to be seeing the straight peeps anymore, they annoy me.

They announced quite a while ago that they were done with the Extra Throttle House stuff. I'll be sad as well if TH (YouTube channel) goes away as I really liked it for what it was (not just the same cut and paste of every other YT automotive channel). However, as someone who didn't watch the Grand Tour (did watch the OG Top Gear but not fanatical about it), they will likely have a new viewer in me. Which, I think is kinda the point...perhaps some new life and new demographics into an aging show. I honestly hope they somehow find their niche and it's not just trying to recreate TG/GT.

I think they should give this guy a look: https://youtube.com/@carswithmiles?si=ZLry6GlftII0isjK. He’s young and has a vibe very similar to theirs.
