23 M550 + JB4 Map 2 = 11.26

100% stock with JB4 Map 2. Foot brake, no LC, DSC off. Seems pretty quick.

I expect you will put down the same times if not faster on map 1 from experience.

That is quick. My best with BM3 OTS Stage 1 93 is 11.17@127. I went last week and couldn't beat 11.25@126. This is with xHP stage 3 on a prepped surface.

What is a little confusing to me is my 0-100 on those runs was 3.5s which is around 3.3s 0-60. That's quicker than above and my 60 foot is the same and mph is higher yet no faster over the quarter. And you DA is much worse.

More power is the answer :-)

Assuming you are using pump fuel, I consistently saw a fairly large degree of timing pulled from logs at +6 lbs.

On map 1 +4lbs boost the timing came back up and the car was quicker.

I’ve been consistently using exxon 93 oct. I’ll try stage one and record the results. Thanks.

Did you have to unlock the ECU?

I found similar results as Boosted_8 on my B58 m340 with a JB4. Under certain conditions Map 1 made the car more drivable, power felt stronger throughout.

Did you record a Map 1 pull for comparison? I’m getting an itch to tune this car and waffling between JB4 or BM3 (Femto unlocked).

JB4 is a piggyback it doesn't need the ECU to be unlocked.

Very nice!

Do you have stock numbers for comparison? I'd love to see them.

By way of an example this is +3lbs of boost, no LC, 94 fuel, stock car except BMC drop ins and continental sc7 tyres.

Dang! 11.19 is amazing with only drop-in air filters and summer tires.

Posted a 3.36 launch control. Jb4 map 2 93 octane. Stage 2 xhp with custom settings. Didn’t even dial that in yet. I’m sure I could’ve got better numbers as I only did one launch.

Boosted_8 what did you use in terms of xhp settings and launching with brake boost meaning when did you let off etc? Did you use xhp here or no?

So much more room to play with. Especially if addding a gallon or 2 of 85.

That’s good.

I’ve gone custom XHP with Btorreto and it is very worthwhile.

On the street 1st gear launches are all around 3.2s 0-100.

We then tried a 2nd gear launch map and went to the strip. Best of 3.15 to 100, rest were 3.2. Best run where I backed off a little before the end was 10.85@128mph, should have been a 10.7@130ish. 60 foots all in the 1.64 range.

Going back next week as Btorreto reckons I’m not leaving it on boost long enough and should be under 3s for 0-100 and 10.6 for the 1/4.

Still OTS 93 tuned

2021 M550i. The problem I had with my JB4 is the P65 firmware didnt work correctly, the gauges would freeze and the data logging would hang.

After speaking to Terry I’m now running the P24 firmware for the F90 M5. Car responds much better and I can run either Map 2 or Map 3 with the correct fuel blend.

Attached is the timesheet I ran with the P65 firmware on the JB4. I’m yet to head back, I think I can shave another 1-2 tenths by holding the launch RPM longer to build boost.

I’m reading these M550’s with the TU3 engines are easily capable of low to mid 10’s with BM3 and xHP custom tuning.

This is great info for LCI’ers looking at JB4. I wish I knew this several months ago when I bought another tune.

I’m not FEMTOing this car and wanted to use JB4…

Hey guys, 21 m550 here. I have a jb4 new in box still from BMS, was going to throw it in soon here but after reading this i am a bit confused. Will I have to flash the device to a different firmware? Please advise, if possible, and thanks!

The JB4 sales department recommended the N63R unit for my vehicle. I made it explicitly clear exactly what year/model/engine in my M550i. But in my experience the N63R firmware is not compatible with the vehicle. The F24 firmware for the F90 M5 is what I’ve end up running.

Their website is unclear, it lists 2 possible options. To be honest, I’ve gone as far as I can, will be looking at xHP Flash and DME unlock to run BM3.

Car has run a best of 11.20 @ 123.78mph with a 1.69 60ft. Data logging shows torque limiting from the gearbox, trans is shortshifting 2-3 gearshift.

Toretto Shifts and Baski can get these things into the mid 10’s without much effort, 9’s with exhaust mods and ethanol fuel mixtures.

Me, I’ll be happy with mid 10’s.

Ok, so when I bought it it looked the same as just now, I chose R, as I have a "G30", I believe F was the previous?

No idea how to attach a pic, but there is a simple drop down making it clear there is only one for the entire "G" chassis, with my car being a "G"
30 m550 and know the the f was the previous the logical choice was that section. That said, I'm a little worried now.

Was it difficult to flash?

Neither of those options are for the TU3. The M550i LCI does not have the N63R engine. Burger need to clarify the difference between the pre and post LCI models.

I end up using the F24 Firmware for the F90 M5 and have no problems with data streaming and logging.

That said, this JB4 will be up for sale soon; I'll be getting the Femto unlock so I can run BM3 and get the xHP trans tuning done.
