Good day everyone.

My Father is leaning more to getting a 2017 530i with just over 56 thousand kilometres, and I think I should add that it would his first after having Mercs majority of his adult life. It was an ambassadorial car before. I was just wondering, from your experience, how reliable is the 530i?

Are there any big negative things you have experienced with these cars?

How have you found the maintenance to be?

I've have a 2019 540i and have had no real issues. Some mild coolant loss about a year ago, but the level was consistent once I topped it up. The B48 is derived from the B58 (which Toyota also uses in the Supra sports car), so I would expecte few headaches.

I think the only real issue for a 530 in the long term would be the electronics. The car is saturated with them. Best advice is to avoid high-spec models that have electronics you don't really need (360 mirror cams, power steering rack adjust, comfort seats with climate, etc).
