RGB DRL Wiring
Just bought my first BMW, a G30. It's an amazing car, we can get into that later.
I installed RGB DRLs and they work great, except for the wiring. There are three wires, red (+), black (-), and white (switched/ACC). I want to find the DRL circuit and tap into one of the wires so I can control the DRLs with the car's iDrive and so they work as OE. Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the DRLs, or a diagram for the headlight connector? I'm trying to figure out how the factory DRLs get power, because the RGBs utilize the same 5-pin connector (inside the housing), but then are controlled by the wires that come out from the unit. There must be a wire that is controlled by the BDC that powers that DRLs in stock form. |

I ended up using fuse F59. I looked on Mitchell 1/ProDemand and there is no direct fuse to the DRLs. Everything is connected from the headlight connector to the Body Control Module/ECU. I tried a fused circuit for the headlights, but that made the headlights not work. I'm content with it now, just wondering why the RGBs plug into the factory harness in the first place. |
