Some questions about CEL
Hi friends, completely newbie here. My vehicle is a 2021 BMW 540i xDrive with 53000 mileage. I have Check Engine Light on for a couple months (probably 3 months). It coincided with my annual service due so I thought it was reminding me to do service. Silly me!
So I did the service last week. I was also told to replace my brake fluid, front and rear differential Full-Sync, transfer case service and large capacity cooling system service. (That's a lot.. Maybe I got scammed? but I asked ChatGPT and it thought it was somewhat reasonable when reaching 50-60K mileage). I wasn't able to get my engine diagnosed when I was doing service because the dealership told me to schedule another appointment. They just briefly told me that the engine function well. And I had no problem driving with CEL on for the past couple months. So I went back, did some research and bought an OBD scanner and Bimmerlink, trying to diagnose myself. I got a bunch of error reports with surprisingly 30+ error memory, but I don't fully understand what they mean and how serious they could be. I later realized that some errors were hisotical errors that doesn't necessarily cause CEL to be on. I am wondering if any experts here could give me some suggestion and maybe possibly help me identify what parts need to be replaced. I attached the error logs from BimmerLink. If it is obvious which parts need to be replaced, maybe I can skip the diagnose which costs $300 from the dealership and just directly get parts replaced. |
