Replacement cost for Front and Rear battery .

What’s the going rate to replace both batteries?
2019 m550i.$$$$$

I believe I have the original batteries and would like to replace them.

Any advice would help. I have a budget of $ 1100.

Dealership or INDY?

Thanks.

It will run you close to a grand at the dealer - probably could get an indie to do it for $850. I would not DIY this.

G30 is in value service. So I'd check BMW discounted pricing before going into a dealer.

Is the front (auxiliary) battery an AGM or Lithium battery? If Lithium, it will increase the price. And in regard to the rear (main) battery, what size do you have? Is it the 92AH or the 105AH battery?

If it is a 90AH,92AH, or 95AH battery, then an aftermarket replacement would be a H8/49 class size battery if you want to compare the price the BMW branded battery is sold for at your local BMW dealership’s PARTS DEPT. If it is a 105AH battery, then the aftermarket replacement to compare with the oe BMW branded battery would be a 95R/H9 class size battery.

Where I live, the BMW AGM 105AH battery was the lowest price vs the aftermarket batteries…and all of the aftermarket H9 batteries only had a 100AH rating except the one sold by Batteries Plus which was also 105AH…but they all cost more than the BMW dealership’s parts dept.

In past discussions on this topic…the slightly smaller BMW branded 92AH battery was abou the same price as the larger 105AH BMW battery. But again, the H8 battery can range between 90AH - 95AH (depending on the mfg & brand)…but all can be coded & registered to work.

Below are the 105AH batteries that I installed in my f06 & f15 in JAN/2023 & OCT/2024. Even if you decide to have someone else (even the dealer) install the batteries…check to make sure that they connect the vent tube as well as PLUG the other vent hole (in any battery that is enclosed…ie the one in the trunk) so that any vented gases from the battery don’t accumulate in an enclosed space…but vented to the exterior of the vehicle. A battery in the engine bay (under the hood) should have enough air circulation for it not to be a problem. But if the battery is enclosed, then it needs to be vented to the exterior. Some batteries come with spare parts (the little black elbow and plug)…but some don’t, so you’ll have to reuse your old elbow. And sometimes a spare plug will be designed into the throw-away protective cover over one of the battery’s post…if this is the case, make sure you snap the plug out before you or the installer throws it away (see red cover and plug below, installed in vent hole opposite the one used to connect the battery’s vent tube).

No DIY, for me I have a way screwing thing up.

I appreciate the help (arkhi, Joe, Logical, and Qsilver)

Value service link came in handy.

I checked both batteries they appear to still look brand new. HaHa.

Looks don't count. I suggest a load test. And I agree with others, this is probably best done by a dealer or an experienced Indy. --Bob

Typically 2, but can be as low as 1 and as high as 3 (excluding HV batteries in PHEVs).

LCI 540 has the 48V battery up front. It's small relatively and costs $1000+ (just the battery).

I wonder if the replacement cost of that negates all the minuscule MPG gains from the "mild-hybrid"

Note to self... if my next car is a BMW (not likely with its current direction), make it a pre LCI...
