Hey guys,

Made a little video of my exhaust setup incase anyone else wanted to hear how it sounds and follow.

I removed the resonator. Cost me $150 at a shop.
Car has catless downpipe, intake, and stock muffler.

I didnt want anything loud, was looking for more of a deeper tone to the exhaust.

The burbles you hear in sport+ is from the downpipe, my tune has burbles set to off.

Inside, you really do not hear the exhaust the way it sounds when you are standing outside in the back of the car. There is absolutely no drone.

The camera is setup about 18ft away from the car in the video below.
I'll try to get some driveby videos.

Enjoy!!

I got it thru getbmwparts.com. I had someone install it for me including repinning the connector and coding.
They do sell the knock offs now for cheaper than oem which is 100% plug and play, no coding, on amazon.

cool, thanks. Does the car sound stock in comfort, and can you hear it in sport with windows up? I'm looking to get a deeper tone and slightly louder sound from my 540i. I installed a high flow DP but it sounds barely any louder from inside the cabin. I am thinking of doing a res delete or get an axleback

It sounds basically the same as it did with the downpipe when you are in comfort. Theres no drone inside which is great. In sport, you hear it a little more. You really hear the sound when you are outside the car and standing behind it.
I didnt want to drop $2K+ for a axleback so i figured i would try this cheap option first. I'm happy with it. I was also looking for that deeper tone, nothing loud or obnoxious.

Awesome, sounds like exactly what I am looking for. I want to actually hear the exhaust from the inside (not the ASD from the speakers) but nothing obnoxiously loud. It sounds great from the video and if you only paid $150 then I'll definitely consider this before an axle-back

Sounds great. I bit the bullet and went with a Remus Catback after another 540i pulled up next to me at a light and humiliated me as he revved his Remus-equipped exhaust. I'm hoping it arrives in the next few weeks.

Lol im sure youll be happy with it. I just cant justify throwing that money towards a exhaust just for sound. Much rather upgraded turbo.

NICE!!

Im on the fence at the moment for an upgraded turbo. I have a TU pump on its way in the mail and my next move will be the BM3 Flex Fuel kit.

I'm thinking maybe next spring I'll jump into an M3.

That sounds really good. It's amazing how much better (read tasteful) a resonator delete sounds on a 540 vs. an M550.

Hey everyone, a bit late to the party but I had a question about the 540i stock exhaust. I’m currently running down pipe and intakes. I want to do the res delete but was wondering if there are multiple resonators? and which one to delete if there are.

From what I understand the car only has one main resonator in the midpipe and then a regular muffler set-up at the back. I just picked up my 540i and the main thing I noticed with the exhaust is that on downshifts in sport you can barely hear the revs. Would a high flow downpipe / resonator delete help with this or would I need to go full catback to notice a difference?
