The Journey to Reims Begins

Mileage just before the journey started.

And this is 98 octanes price in NL

Some additional special fuel to energize

It's a 400 kms drive between, Netherlands, Belgium and France.

It was a reasonable journey and quiet in regards traffic! All we want!

Temperatures are raising nicely

While there’s no official convoy today, the excitement is already building as members begin their journeys from across Europe, heading toward Reims, France, where the HGT’25 Cross-Alps Tour will officially begin tomorrow.

We will overnight in Reims, staying at the well-located Akena Reims-Bezannes Hotel — an ideal stopover in the heart of the Champagne-Ardenne region.

We could get some candies given so kindly by the hotel staff!

Some cool Champagne stuff all around here so yeah! Let's have a toast later today.

With modern rooms, a relaxed atmosphere, snack bar, and nearby restaurants, it’s a great place to rest before the action kicks off.

OG has is own special spot

We found a restaurant close by and with good review. Let's get food, beer and some champagne!

It’s the calm before the storm — the final moment of quiet before ten unforgettable days of Alpine roads, roaring engines, and incredible scenery.

Tonight: Independent overnight stops en route
⛽ Status: Full tanks ✅ | Cameras charged ✅ | Tires warmed up ✅

Tomorrow: We meet at the legendary Reims-Gueux circuit to officially begin the tour. Stay tuned!

FOLLOW THE JOURNEY

We'll be sharing daily updates, behind-the-scenes stories, rolling shots, and route highlights throughout the trip. Whether you're part of the tour or following from afar, this is one for the books.

Let’s hit the Alps.

From Reims to Geneva.

From the UK, Malcolm mjn77 , Jennifer, Richard, and Steve are on the move, making their way across the Channel toward Reims. Over in Germany, Alexander is setting off on his own route south, while Mads, having driven all the way from Norway, is already enjoying a few relaxing days in Geneva before the action begins.

Everyone’s carving their own path—some opting for scenic backroads, others stretching the legs of their machines on the autobahn. No matter the route, the excitement is building with every passing kilometer.

 PRE-TOUR WARM-UP | Sunday, June 29

The warm-up begins! A few of us met early at the Reims-Gueux circuit, the historic French Grand Prix track. A perfect location to start a tour rooted in performance heritage.

The old pit box area has been transformed as visitor center.

In addition to uploading the routes to some of our navigation systems, Malcolm mjn77 also prepared individual folders with printed day-by-day plans — giving us a clear, on-the-spot overview of each day’s route!

We made a quick stop at a local favorite just 3 minutes from the Reims-Gueux circuit — Pino’s Pizzeria, located at:

43 Avenue Madame Eugène Roederer, 51390 Gueux, France

A convenient and tasty option right near the action.

We took the opportunity to hand out the official badges to those already with us — they'll be applied later tonight.

 THE ROUTE:

From Reims to Geneva, and onwards through some of the most epic Alpine roads Europe has to offer. Mountain passes, lake views, and twisting tarmac await. Keep an eye out as we reveal route maps, key stops, and photo ops over the coming days! A few quick stops and off we're off to the hotel.

Temperatures are raising!

And we arrive at the hotel!

We'll overnight at the Yotel Lake Geneva. With a proper garage for our cars. Good place!

As a token of our appreciation for organizing the tour routes, we gifted mjn77 a sleek silhouette of the E90 M3.

Dom and Marek have just joined us! After making a stop at the Nürburgring on their way from England, they’re now part of the group. The crew is coming together nicely!

Time for food and beer!

✅ Day 1 – Monday, June 30, 2025

Geneva → Goat Village → Avoriaz → Dard Waterfall → Beaufort

The first official day of the HGT’25 Cross-Alps Tour kicks off in style as we leave our hotel in Geneva and head straight into the heart of the Alps.

We caught up with Miguel and his stunning M2 CS for a quick hello. He’ll be joining us for a short drive, but unfortunately, work commitments mean he can’t stay with us for the rest of the day. Still — great to see him, even if briefly!

🐐 First Stop: Goat Village (Les Lindarets)

A charming mountain hamlet where goats roam freely through the streets—one of the quirkiest and most memorable spots in the French Alps. A perfect place to stretch our legs, grab a quick local snack, and snap some unforgettable photos.

We faced one of the first setbacks of the event with Dom and his pocket rocket. Due to urgent front tire issues, he had to get them replaced right away. As a result, he skipped the day’s route and took the motorway directly to the hotel.

Some fun and challenge feeding the goats!

🗻 Moving towards Avoriaz

After a spirited climb and unusually high temperatures for the time of day, the M6 began to overheat — so we decided to take a break and let the cars cool down for a while.

and yeah some evidence from the Goat village ….

Before arriving the hotel i look for a car wash a few minutes away from the hotel.

🏨 Evening Destination:

Hotel de la Roche
📍 24 Avenue du Capitaine Bulle, 73270 Beaufort, France
We'll wrap up Day 1 in Beaufort, settling in at this cozy alpine hotel nestled in the scenic Beaufortain valley—home to legendary cheese and legendary roads.

Our room was lovely.

And with a proper garage for our cars:

Marek getting something fixed with his exhaust.

⛽ Status: Full tanks, fresh air, and the road ahead. The Alps have officially welcomed us.

✅ Day 2 – Tuesday, July 1, 2025

Beaufort → Route Napoléon → Col du L'Iseran → Col du Galibier → Col d'Izoard → Montagne & Spa Retreat

Day 2 of the HGT’25 Cross-Alps Tour brings us deep into legendary Alpine driving territory. We depart from Hotel de la Roche in Beaufort and set course for some of the most iconic mountain passes in the region—this is where the road truly becomes a driver’s playground.

A lovely breakfast at Hotel de la Roche. Highly recommended!

And the OG is ready to hit the road!

🛣️ Highlights on the Route:

🗻 Col du L'Iseran

After getting some food a nap.

🗻 Col du Télégraphe

A beautiful warm-up climb surrounded by alpine forests—perfect tarmac and sweeping bends.

🗻 Col du Galibier

An absolute must for any driving enthusiast. At 2,642m, this is one of the highest paved passes in the Alps, delivering dramatic hairpins and breathtaking views at every turn.

🗻 Col d'Izoard

A scenic link between Galibier and Izoard, offering smoother stretches but no less impressive panoramas.

Despite the rain, we made a brief midday stop at the stunning 🏔️ Refuge Napoléon – Col d'Izoard for a quick photo and restroom break.

Soaked in both history and elevation, this iconic pass—once part of the legendary Route Napoléon and a classic Tour de France climb—offered dramatic scenery even through the mist. Normally a perfect lunch spot, today it served as a quick pause with unforgettable views.

Last fill up of the day and just before we hitting the hotel. It has been a long day ... But ain't over ...

Shortly after checking into the hotel, we encountered another setback — this time for Malcolm and his E90 M3. A flat tire, likely caused by poor road conditions and low visibility during the afternoon's wet weather, brought things to a halt. One of the many scattered rocks on the route proved unavoidable and caused significant damage.

At this stage, it's still unclear whether the tire can be repaired or needs replacement, so Malcolm has had to postpone his plans for tomorrow while awaiting a solution.

Unfortunately, this is a common frustration for many BMW M owners — the lack of a spare tire leaves little room for error, especially in remote mountain regions like the Alps.

🏨 Evening Destination:
Hôtel 16-150 Montagne & Spa Nuxe

📍 Lieu dit Serre Ratier, 05100 Montgenèvre, France
After a day of relentless climbs and jaw-dropping views, we check in at this luxurious mountain spa hotel to recover in style—hot stone treatments, fresh alpine air, and deep comfort.

The owner of the hotel is a petrolhead so yeah it was a good feeling for most of us during the stay.

Time for jacuzzi, beer and food!

Schnaps

⛽ Status: Brakes warm, spirits high, and elevation maxed.
The Alps are throwing their best at us—and we’re loving every curve.

✅ Day 3 – Wednesday, July 2, 2025

Montgenèvre → Vars → Daluis → Beuil → Menton

As the HGT’25 Cross-Alps Tour continues, Day 3 delivers a stunning contrast in scenery—transitioning from rugged Alpine terrain into the warmer, sun-drenched landscapes of the southern Alps.

🚘 We depart from:

Hôtel 16-150 Montagne & Spa Nuxe, Montgenèvre

A final alpine breakfast before rolling out for a day filled with thrilling roads and historic stops.

Today brought sunshine, a welcome change from yesterday’s gloomy weather.

The convoy must move on for now, but we’re all looking forward to seeing Malcolm and his E90 back at the hotel later.

🛣️ Key Waypoints & Highlights:

🏞️ Vars, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

A mountain pass favorite—smooth curves and spectacular southern Alpine vistas.

A brief stop for a photo and restroom break at Refuge de la Cayolle, perched at 2,266 meters.

And we move on with more gorgeous scenery.

We continue putting our top-tier car care products to good use along the way!

Cruising through the Gorges de Daluis was an absolutely incredible experience! A visual masterpiece—canyon roads carved through dramatic red rock. A true highlight for the driving and the photos.

Absolutely, if there's a chance for a quick wash, we’re all for it!

Finding shade during our stops has been a challenge — temperatures have soared past 35°C!

The tour follows the legendary Tour de France route, showcasing some of the most challenging and iconic roads of the race. Namely at de Col de Turini.

🌲 Through Valdeblore & La Bollène-Vésubie

We’re continuing on toward the hotel — at this point, all we’re thinking about is arriving and giving our legs a well-earned rest!

A rolling descent toward the Mediterranean through twisting forested roads—classic Rallye Monte-Carlo territory.

Some of the best news just came through our WhatsApp chat — Malcolm and the M3 are back on the road and heading to the hotel! Yay!

Hotel arrival and check-in were a nightmare — truly frustrating!
Parking wasn’t ideal either, but we managed to fill up the hotel garage with all our cars in the end.

🌊 Evening Destination:

Best Western Hôtel Méditerranée, Menton

📍 5 Rue de la République, 06500 Menton, France
We finish the day on the French Riviera, just steps from the beach, where palm trees replace pine trees and the air is rich with sea breeze.

Some of us are off to the beach!

And with that it's time for food and beer!

On the way back to the hotel i found a great shop with some proper Limoncello! Made some shopping

Off to Monaco — time to soak in a bit of the glamour and sparkle! ✨

Status: From altitude to ocean.
Day 3 proves that this tour isn't just about power—it's about the journey, the scenery, and the stories we gather along the way.

✅ Day 4 – Thursday, July 3, 2025

Menton → Monaco F1 Circuit → Coastal Italy → Sanremo

Day 4 of the HGT’25 Cross-Alps Tour shifts gears from alpine twisties to coastal elegance—beginning with a true motorsport pilgrimage and ending on the Italian Riviera.

With temperatures nearing 40°C, we had to adjust our plans and skip some of the original highlights, including the Monaco F1 lap, Passo del Muratone, and Colla Melosa. Instead, we opted for a relaxing morning at the beach, followed by a later drive to the hotel.

This is the highest temperature i've seen since i own the OG.

Crossing into Italy
After passing through Menton, we crossed the border into Italy, choosing a scenic coastal route over the high mountain passes this time.

🌊 Via Aurelia to Sanremo

The drive along Via Aurelia offered stunning sea views, winding cliffside roads, and that perfect fusion of mountain scenery and Mediterranean charm.

Here some pictures of the day!

🍽️ Evening Destination:

Hotel Ristorante Sanremo

📍 Via Garessio, 21, 12073 Ceva CN, Italia
We arrive in Sanremo ready to unwind and enjoy a classic Italian dinner with the group—well-deserved after a high-adrenaline day.

Given the weather conditions and the daily mileage we’ve been putting in, the performance and reliability of our cars have been truly impressive. So far, no issues to report.

The only thing that caught my eye was the AK Motion intercooler temperature gauge showing 61°C — which initially raised concerns, as a red indicator usually isn’t a good sign. However, after checking in with Oliver (our fellow member and my trusted mechanic), he confirmed that this temperature is perfectly normal under these circumstances.

That said, we’ll continue to monitor things closely over the next few days, especially as the weather is expected to cool down a bit.

We headed out for a great meal at a lovely spot — took a 2 km walk to get there, and naturally, enjoyed a well-earned beer!

⛽ Status: Engines hot, sea breeze strong, and spirits high.

From Monaco’s glamour to Sanremo’s charm—Day 4 blends motorsport heritage with Italian dolce vita.

HOLY CRAP, PIC HEAVY POST! Hah.
The MGM M2 competition is probably my most favorite out of the bunch.
Still looks leagues better than the current generation in my own opinion.
Just looks high end and not a blob of metal and plastic.

Hi there! We actually managed to bring together 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 Series models for the event — and they all performed impressively given the challenging Alpine roads and intense heat. Do you often go on road trips like this?

Route: Departing from Hotel San Remo

Our cars sleep nicely parked and they're ready for the challenge day!

but before depart yeah .. a car wash

It's been tricky finding quality fuel in Italy, as most stations only offer 95 octane. Thankfully, Q8 provides 100 octane — so we’ve definitely been hunting those down!

After an hour on the road and with temperatures climbing past 30°C, we made a quick stop to mount some GoPros and stretch our legs!

➡️ Scenic drive through the Alps toward the stunning Colle del Nivolet, one of the most picturesque mountain passes in Italy

Yaayyy!!! Colle del Nivolet

to be continued ....
