I also encountered infamous A/C related issues when I fiddled with the A/C . It was blowing ice cold in AUTO Mode ,I pressed one of the buttons to override Auto Mode and switched to Manual Mode . In Manual Mode, I opted face and foot and reduced to fan speed as well as turned on the rear ventilation area , 4 zone mode correctly .
The change was instant ,I noticed my feet were getting hot air while facial area was getting coldish .I switched back to AUTO ,MAX A/C and temp was set at 16 C . Within 5 minutes it was ice cold again . My take on this A/C is it must be software related rather than hardware , either it was designed this way to compensate things which sounds weird or a design flaw in software department .

Update for anyone that might be interested.
Heard from my SA today. He said that parts were on order from Germany, a new condenser and radiator. I believe he said a new, larger radiator vs what was currently on the car. Perhaps I misunderstood. He said the parts were going to be here on the 21st with another day to install, then they would like to keep the car for a day or two to test it. While I appreciate the effort involved, not sure about how I feel having a car that may have a different radiator than any other car of the same model. Am I over thinking this? Anyway, by this time my car will have been in the shop for about a quarter of the time that I have owned it. |

Doesn't make any sense, I would not accept this solution. Even worse, I don't think it will even solve the issue, since it had nothing to do with the radiator size...
If original system is working priperly, it will not have any trouble even if the outside temp reaches 50 degrees Celsius... if there is an issue, bigger radiator might only mask the problem, but not solve it. At this point, I would ask for a new car, since this is starting to be ridiculous... |

Sunny day here, about 17C(63F). Went out at lunchtime. Drove for 10 minutes. My back was sweaty as hell and the AC was as good as useless. No matter what you do, you basically feel nothing cooling you.

My AC acts very strange as well. I've tried all of the tweaks suggested on this thread and it still blows! (pardon the pun). The one constant is the lack of flow from the passenger side center vent. It's wide open and the stratification setting is all the way to cold. I live in Vegas and oddly enough it tends to get warm here. "It's a dry heat".....

I was in a G30 530d last week at a similar temperature. Got in the car after it was sitting in the sun, it cooled very quickly, (like my F11). Within a few seconds the air flow temperature was dropping. Sorry but didn't think to give the climate controls any attention, as it worked as I'd expect. Never changed any of the settings. It wasn't blowing hard, it didn't need to, it was clearly chilling the cabin efficiently for the ambient temperature. My passenger turned the face vent away from him, as it was too cold. |

No worries. I have had my car for almost two weeks, it has been 30C to 38C here and AC works as expected.
I set it at 21C, auto and fan speed two bars. No complaints at all.

I'm starting to believe its more of the settings. I have tried a vehicle which to me had inadequate AC, the Sales Rep did some twiddling in IDrive and the AC magically became really cold. We live in a warm climate so AC is a big deal

Not that warm climate here but ac working perfectly. My recomendations, leave everything at default, set it to auto and sync and when needed push max ac button.
Max ac gives very cold air within a few seconds for me. 4zone ac and a 520d G31. |

My car is in service for key fob not holding ac settings. Putting a new update in car that was just released last week. Hoping this update also fixes the AC problem. I will keep everyone posted. I feel the ac problem is a software problem and changing radiators and condensors is a waste.
P.S. my car is a 320 loaner and air conditioner is far superior over the 540. It was so cold, i had to raise to 75 degrees. |
