2019 M550 Production Delay: "Engineering Data"
Hi all,
Had an interesting conversation with BMW Genius today regarding a delay in production of my 2019 M550i. My car entered production on July 20 according to MyBMW so I called BMW Genius today to get a more up-to-date status. BMW Genius reported that my car is scheduled to complete production on Aug. 23 as all 2019 M550s are being "held" in production due to an issue with "engineering data". The BMW Genius rep was very helpful and diligent in trying to get more information but couldn't find anything additional at this point. Wanted to share in case anyone else hears similar or additional information. Cheers. |

my 530e has status "assembly completed" since the 4th of July ... also being held in production with a current expected delivery of september 3rd (in the UK).
I've heard its because our cars are now fitted with a particle-filter to lower emissions ... the new co2 values have to be approved and even though there has been a statement of BMW 2 or 3 weeks ago that they were ready ... there are still issues to get the certificate of conformity. I've read it will take at least until august 20th ... so august 23rd sounds right, unless they just keep adding time to it Because I've heard august 20th on July 20th, and you got told august 23rd on july 23rd. |

Nothing. I've spoken with BMW Genius a few times over the past few weeks, and as recently as this past Friday, and the only thing they consistently confirm is that my scheduled production completion date is Aug. 23. Curious whether that will still be the case in a week or so.

Several others have cars scheduled for September builds. It would be great to have some sort of idea what's happening... |

Production seems to be moving as intended on the M550i. My dealer had a black sapphire on build that I was originally going to take before deciding I wanted to go with Carbon Black. I've had the production number for the Black Sapphire which went into production just before the plant shutdown this month. This past week it went from production started to yesterday where it is now waiting a carrier to take it to Bremerhaven. This was a near fully loaded M550i...so I'm assuming there are no holdups at Dingolfing.

hello all I am new here. current 2014 M235, on order 2019M550i - A90, LCFK, 4LH, ZDB, ZDH, ZPP, ZPX, 494, 6F1, 22E. as it turned out I was kinda surprised that it was about $1500 cheaper that same 2018 spec. so far my car is delayed at the port in Germany , has been there for about 2 weeks waiting for a west coast ship, frustrating. also it is about 3 plus weeks behind original target date of delivery.
Best to all and good luck with your orders Rob |

This is week 10 of my wait, and I have only made it to the second step, which is nothing more than being "scheduled!" Besides all the other steps, I have the same long trip to Port Hueneme that you have. I am hoping some of the other steps (such as the wait at the port) go much more quickly once production gets going. Sorry about your delay. I feel for you! Best of luck. Keep us updated. |
