I completely agree! I have also not really had a knack for hunting recently with all of the hype. I have focused more on store and group picks lately.

The Willet is mainly about the bottle for that one. It is a good $20-25 whiskey but not quite the $40 I usually see it at. When you get to the 4y Rye (next step up) it starts being much better and drinking at or above it's price point.

Agree; for those that haven't tried the Angel's Envy - a rye whiskey finished in Caribbean casks - it really is amazing. Even if you don't necessarily like ryes, give this a try.

If I have 2 full bottles of anything I feel like WTF am I going to do with all this shit? It will take me a year to drink it all. Currently have like 3-4 bottles of bourbon, not all full, but it's giving me anxiety.

nothing in my collect that's of anything special beside maybe some oddball Russian Vodka's that I got while in Turkmenistan or Kyrgyzstan. I have an old bottle of Absinthe from Spain that was in a bar we used to frequent.

Did a 2 week tour of the Scotland awhile back and went to all the big names but since I don't like Scotch I just sold the good stuff when I got back to the states. Used to be able to buy 5 liter bottles at the Canadian and Germany exchange at Ramstein for cheap money at Christmas time.

I miss Bier runs, used to bring home 5-6 cases a trip, each case was 20 0.5l bottles for 20 bucks before adding deposit.

Yeah, I host a lot. Thankfully most of my friends have been pretty vocal about still hanging out and its allowed here so the Rona didn't really slow us down too much. If I had a liquor store I would have more allocated items in my collection probably.

I have invited you over before when you were visiting your family that lives by me....

The truth is, when you get enough bottles, you tend to buy faster than you drink. Whiskey doesn't really go bad as long as it is 50% full or has gas added so no reason to power through. I also try and help local people out with samples of stuff they have never had before.

UNFORTUNATLEY, my uncle who lives near you is on hospice. Not sure if I come out, whether it would be socially acceptable to go hook up with some random I met on a BMW chat, just for a few drinks
